New $20 Note
October 15, 2007
Security Features
In May 2003, the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Board unveiled a new $20 note design with enhanced security features and subtle background colors. The new design is part of an ongoing effort to stay ahead of the counterfeiting of U.S. currency. The Series 2004 $20 note was issued starting October 9, 2003.

Ultra Violet Devices (UV-16, MD 188, MD 118, Panagio Pen)
Cashiers and tellers using UVeritech UV equipment should continue using them as they have always done. The UV feature on the new bill is in the same location, and of the same color as the previous $20 design.
CT-1000
For those UVeritech customers using the CT-1000 currency verifier, updated software is available to handle the verification of the new bills. If your software is not currently able to detect the new $20, please contact us immediately at info@uveritech.com
Previous series $20 notes are not being recalled or devalued. Depository institutions, cash handling industries, and individuals do not need to exchange their older notes for the new series. New notes and the older-design notes will continue to be honored at full face value.
